Hit-Run Driver At Large After Fatal Strike In Maryland, Police Say (Developing)

A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver early on Monday morning in Howard County, police say.

An investigation has been launched after a man was struck and killed shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday, April 29, by a driver in a dark-colored sedan on Washington Boulevard near Patuxent Range Road in Jessup.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say that the pedestrian was crossing the road when he was hit, and the initial investigation found that he was not in a crosswalk at the time.

No details about the victim have been released by investigators.

A portion of Washington Boulevard was closed for nearly four hours on Monday morning while police probed the fatal strike and cleared the scene. The investigation into the fatal hit-and-run is ongoing.
